The South African electronics eCommerce market is experiencing strong momentum, with three major players emerging at the forefront — Takealot, Amazon South Africa, and HiFi Corp.
According to the latest data, Takealot.com continues to dominate the space, generating an estimated US$72 million in revenue from electronics alone. This represents 20% of its total filtered revenue and a 2.9% growth rate year-on-year, establishing it as a central force in the country’s digital retail landscape.
Coming in second, Amazon.co.za has made significant strides since entering the South African market, recording US$49.4 million in electronics sales. With its global infrastructure and broad product range, it captures a growing market segment — 35.9% of its South African revenue now comes from electronics.
HiFiCorp.co.za, part of Pepkor Trading Pty Ltd, rounds out the top three with US$23.5 million in electronics revenue. Impressively, 83.8% of its total online revenue is derived from electronics, and it’s seen the highest growth among the three — an increase of 16.8% this year.
Collectively, these three retailers account for 31.6% of the eCommerce revenue among the top 100 electronics stores in South Africa.
As competition intensifies and digital adoption continues to rise, these players are expected to further innovate in logistics, user experience, and product diversity — shaping the future of online electronics retail in South Africa.
